At USB Extra, we have been really fortunate to work and develop Custom USB for some major companies on some major projects. From major institutions across the pond like Central Park NY to UK companies like Procter and Gamble, BBC, Heineken and many more.
One of the more gratifying commissions of the last 12 months has been to develop a Custom USB in the shape of the new Range Rover Evogue – this would be for the launch of the Range Rover Evogue. Promotional USB Flash Drives is our bread and butter and the standard USB housings available via public tooling is the core of what we do and the most cost-effective when compared to custom made USB that requires “private tooling. USB Extra was commissioned to develop a viable draft design for a possible “Range rover Evogue USB Flash Drive. As we did something similar for the SEAT for the SEAT IBIZA 2008 launch, they knew they were in good hands and that we could deliver the imaginative drawing from the computer into the actual representation of the drawing.
The concept image to replicate is obvious but like previous car USB projects we’ve done in the past – the car companies are hardly ever willing to release the 3D drawing of the car – obviously because of intellectual property reasons. We knew the drill and that the draft design would be developed from many images instead of using a concise 3D image of the car that can be minimised to model size within a couple of hours. Instead the design took 3 days to develop.
When designing a Car USB, details are minimised and rounded up. For example, Car locks and head lamps are screen printed on and the screen is often blackened or whitened. One of the requirements was also todevelop this for dealerships to promote the new Range Rover Evogue release. Information like dealership logo, phone number and web address should be printed on the custom USB Flash Drives to promote the individual dealerships. Additionally, the dealerships willwant to preload the Custom USB premium with data or for clients or press.
Without boring you with all the extensive drawings and re-drawings that took place, we developed the Range Rover Custom memory sticks successfully.
