Our standard method for formatting the personalised USB flash drives produced is FAT32. Without wanting to write a full technical sheet on the benefits of FAT 32 and the other methods, we found this method hindered our client in being able to fully dispatch the printed USB memory sticks that we’ve developed for them.

In a recent development for ATP, we formatted the ATP USB flash drives as FAT32. Based on FAT32 formatting, it means that the maximum file size that can be uploaded on an 8GB FAT32 formatted branded USB stick is 4GB. If they had a file that was 6GB big, this becomes a hindrance and the only way to get round this formatting issue is to format the drive as ex-FAT. ExFAT means there’s no minimum size file for the files uploaded or preloaded on your company memory sticks.

The ATP experience has meant that our process of developing branded USB drives above 4GB in size has been updated to accommodate this possibility. So the update is this: all promotional flash drives produced by USBEXTRA will be formatted as ExFAT. For other comparisons between FAT32 and ExFAT, please notice the comparison breakdown below.
