In the last couple of weeks, we have added more sports based USB memory sticks to the USBEXTRA site.
We recently blogged about adding 2 sports themed custom USB flash to the website. These blogs can be seen HERE and HERE. The 2 sports
themed USB stick that was added to the USBEXTRA site can be seen with custom football kit USB flash drives and the custom Rugby ball USB memory sticks.
We are adding another sport themed development this morning and this is for Baseball. IMG (International management group) sports management commissioned
USBEXTRA to develop a unique branded technology product design that can be presented to one of their major clients for an upcoming season. IMG is a worldwide media and sports company headquartered in New York and with offices in most major
cities in the world.
The brief was to think outside the box in order to do something totally different for their client. Standard mould branded USB sticks is great but they
were looking for a product design that stands out and resonates with the supporters of their client. It has to be compact and visibly display their
client’s logo. Their client is no other than the New York Yankees baseball
team.
Even though we produce promotional memory sticks for companies all over the world, we are based in the UK. Baseball is not a sport that is widely played in
the UK or Europe in general but the NY Yankees baseball team is a renowned institution we’ve all heard about. To further our research, we reviewed the
promotional products (and more specifically the promotional USB products) currently available on the main MLB website.
After our extensive research, we found out that they merchandise with the branded Twister USB drive. The twister printed USB mould is a very popular option
as recently highlighted.
With this information to hand, our design team embarked on designing and developing this exciting custom USB proposal. A decision was made to design the
concept for the Baseball themed custom memory stick around the famous baseball cap. Notice the concept designs developed for IMG and NY
Yankees below:-
There are 2 main ways to approach designing the baseball cap USB, the obvious and simplest method is the first image – which is to cut the cap into 2 and
use one section as the cap and the other as the IC Chip holder. The second image is more technically demanding as it’s an insert technology. IMG are
reviewing these amazing custom USB stick designs and will advise
our team re how to proceed at the earliest opportunity.
We are super excited about this development and are looking forward to hopefully further going through the decision making process into the development
